Mark’s Choice White Wine Pack
Treixadura Godello Loureira | Ribeiro, Spain | Alter, Razamonde | 2017
This wine is my curveball white. From a lesser known region of Spain, Ribeiro, the wine is made from a blend of three grape varieties Trexadurra, Godello, Loureiro. Lots of texture and flavour here, each of the three grape varietals bringing something different to the finished wine. On the palate there is a great burst of tropical pineapple and in the background there is lovely green apple and even a little honey and acacia on the finish. Really worth a try.
Gruner Veltliner | Wagram, Austria | Am Berg, Bernard Ott | 2017
Bernhard Ott took over the family winery in 1995 having been in the family for over 130 years. His dedication to winemaking saw him named Austrian Winemaker of the Year in 1995. Although not the most popular grape variety this wine is absolutely world class and begs the question why the style is not more in demand. However this can be a positive for us consumers as some of the lesser known grapes and regions do not command as high a price. This wine is made from 100% Gruner Veltliner and shows lovely aromatics of peach and white pepper. I can’t stress enough how great this wine is.
Chardonnay | Chablis, France | Laurence Race | 2017
Those in the know will tell you that when it comes to white wine there is one region that reigns supreme and that is Burgundy, no question, a done deal! Within this region we can find Chablis, famous the world over for its flinty, mineral white wines made from 100% Chardonnay. Our particular Chablis shows exactly why this style has won so many admirers over the years. Mineral and citrus with great complexity and length, this is a wine to sip and contemplate the good things in life.
